PD Landscaping & Gardening Since 1935:
Our History
Pierno (Peter) DiClemente began gardening in Chestnut Hill in 1935, providing service to a handful of clients with not much more than a wheelbarrow and some hand tools. Like many Italian immigrants of that era, he gained the trust of his customers with hard work and loyalty. When his only son Domenic returned from the Army in 1954, he began working with his father full time and would eventually take over when Pierno passed away in 1971. Domenic served the same neighborhoods of Chestnut Hill for almost 40 years, until he was called to a bigger job which was taking care of his wife who was suffering from Alzheimer’s. I began working for my father during summer breaks and weekends, but after graduation it became my career also. Since 1990 I have maintained the business in the same neighborhoods that my Grandfather and Father faithfully served. While the business has grown, I have always tried to keep the humble, personal touch that a true “Gardener” should provide.
Chestnut Hill is a unique area with historic gardens and residents who understand the importance of the landscape. Over the years, I have learned as much about gardening from my customers as I have in books and classes. The team and I feel so fortunate to provide a service to clients who are passionate about their landscape.
